The courses themselves are split into three distinct areas. The first part that you will begin studying is purely theoretical and will be classroom based. You will be taught about all laws pertaining to driving in the UK, and how to teach people to drive safely. The purpose of this section of the course is to give you the depth of knowledge you will need to become an instructor.

Part two is based on practical exercises, where you will spend most of your time in the car with an instructor trainer. This is focused around improving your driving ability and road safety.

Finally, the third part of the driving instructor course focuses on your teaching ability. An essential component of the job is teaching. You will need to plan and deliver lessons, and customise your teachings for each individual pupil.
